The Customer

The buyer is a food company in Hungary that packs milk powder and tomato powder, and it has bought from us before. We do not name the company here. The chat records used for this article begin on 5 August 2026, so earlier orders are not described.

The buyer asked for the SW-1528 "like in this order", and our salesperson referred to what the buyer had added last time.

What They Needed to Pack

The buyer needed milk powder in back-seal bags of 150–500 g, made from 280 mm film. It also needed tomato powder in four-side-seal bags made from 260 mm film. This case study does not give the tomato powder bag weight.

The buyer asked for a date printer and photo-eye registration on both machines. It also specified 220 V single-phase power with an EU plug. For printing, the buyer named the date, a QR code, a barcode or the product name.

What We Proposed and Why

The bag type decided the machine. We proposed two vertical form-fill-seal machines:

  • The SW-420 for back-seal bags, with a 50 L auger filler and no feeding conveyor
  • The SW-1528 for four-side-seal bags
  • Photo-eye registration and a date printer on both
  • 10 rolls of ribbon for each machine

The buyer ordered the auger screw quoted for the SW-420 and did not order the auger feeding conveyor.

The buyer ordered the SW-420 with a bag former for the 150–500 g size.

The buyer also asked about a machine for 0–150 g. Our salesperson explained that fill weights such as 20 g and 100 g normally use different bag widths, so the bag former is changed to match. The buyer did not order that machine.

How the SW-420 and SW-1528 Handle Milk Powder and Tomato Powder

Milk powder is fine and cohesive, and it resists flowing under its own weight. Dropped into a volumetric cup, it bridges across the cavity or clings to the walls, so the cup comes out part-filled. A screw does not wait for the powder to fall: it forces a set volume downward on every revolution, which is why the SW-420 doses this product by auger.

The SW-420 here has no feeding conveyor, so the hopper is topped up by hand. Each top-up changes the depth of powder above the screw, and that head pressure changes how densely the flights fill. Topping up often, rather than letting the hopper run low and then refilling it, keeps the dose closer to its setting.

Both machines form the bag from flat film. On the SW-420 a forming collar wraps the film into a tube and the back seal closes it. The collar, matched to the film width, therefore fixes the bag width. A different width needs a different collar and the film threaded again; it is hardware, not a screen setting.

Printed film adds one more requirement: the cut must land in the same place on every bag. On both machines a photo-eye reads the registration mark printed on the film and corrects the pull length as the machine runs. The cut then stays between print repeats instead of creeping into the artwork.

How the Project Ran

5 August 2026 Quotation and proforma invoice; the buyer says it will send the money the next day
6 August 2026 Buyer wires the payment
28 August 2026 We tell the buyer the machines are expected to be completed by 31 August 2026
31 August 2026 Buyer asks for 10 cutting blades for the SW-1528; added to the shipment
1 September 2026 Working videos sent; our engineer has tested the auger screw; blades packed in a toolbox

On 1 September 2026 and 2 September 2026 the buyer asked about other date printers. We offered a thermal-transfer coder and a UV laser marker, each at an extra cost, and sent demonstration videos. The thermal-transfer coder we quoted has a maximum print area of 70 × 70 mm. On 8 September 2026 the buyer wrote: "I dont need this printer,i need the original printer". The buyer added that it did not want to print a QR code now, so the machines kept the original date printer.

The buyer also asked about a 300 L ribbon mixer, which we quoted separately. No mixer order is described here.

Commercial Terms

Trade term EXW, as stated on the proforma invoice
Payment Deposit after the proforma invoice; balance before shipment; paid by bank transfer
Lead time 20–25 days after the deposit, as stated on the proforma invoice for this order
Warranty Two years on manufacturing defects. In-warranty replacement parts sent free of charge (wear parts excluded). Lifetime remote support
Included with the order 10 rolls of ribbon per machine; a finished-product output conveyor added without a separate charge; 10 cutting blades for the SW-1528 packed in a toolbox

Delivery

The buyer arranged its own forwarder on 10 September 2026 and asked for the packing list. We sent the packing list on 10 September 2026 and again on 21 September 2026, and the updated commercial invoice and packing list on 14 October 2026, where the records end. The shipment was four packages.

The records do not include the pickup, the arrival, the running of the machines or a running speed.

What We Would Check First on a Similar Project

For two powders on vertical machines, I would settle four things before the order. First, the bag former and the film width: which former you already have, which one you need for each bag size, and what film width each size needs. Second, what has to be printed: date, QR code, barcode or product name, because that decides which date printer you need. Third, the dosing: whether the product needs an auger screw. Fourth, the feeding: whether you need an auger feeding conveyor.

If you would like to know how we run a factory test, our factory acceptance test guide sets it out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What lead time was quoted for this order?

The proforma invoice of 5 August 2026 quoted 20–25 days after the deposit. On 28 August 2026 our salesperson told the buyer that the machines were expected to be completed by 31 August 2026.

Did we send the buyer a machine working video?

Yes. We sent machine working videos on 1 September 2026 and asked the buyer to tell us if anything needed to be changed. Our engineer had tested the auger screw by then.
