Product Overview

SW-C6: Six-Lane Four-Side Seal Sachet Platform

The SW-C6 is a vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) machine with six parallel lanes producing 4-side seal sachets. Each cycle produces six fully enclosed pouches simultaneously — two film rolls (upper and lower) feed into the machine, pass through longitudinal sealing bars that form the vertical side seams, get dosed with product from a central manifold, then pass through horizontal sealing jaws that close the top and bottom edges. At 200–300 cycles per minute, combined throughput is 1,200–1,800 finished sachets every minute, equivalent to roughly 720,000 sachets in an 8-hour shift.

The 4-side seal format differs from a 3-side seal in that all four edges of each sachet are sealed independently — not just two sides and one end. This gives a fully enclosed pouch with maximum seal integrity, a uniform rectangular appearance for retail display, and the full front and back panels available for printed graphics without interruption from a rear back-seal strip. For oxygen-sensitive products — pharmaceutical powders, instant coffee, premium condiments — the 4-side seal's better barrier performance justifies the slightly higher film usage. For larger pre-formed stand-up pouches with zipper or spout, see the premade bag packing machine family.

The filling system is selected by product type at time of order: piston pump dosing for liquids and sauces, auger screw dosing for dry powder, and volumetric cup dosing for free-flowing granules. Typical applications include honey, plum sauce, salad dressing, ketchup, jam, instant coffee, sugar, seasoning powder, and pharmaceutical portion packs. Fill volume is 5–30 ml per sachet; bag width is 30–70 mm; bag length is 50–150 mm. For a 3-side seal variant of the same six-lane architecture, see the SW-A6 six-column three-side-seal machine. For a 10-lane back seal stick sachet machine, see the SW-B10 ten-column machine. For triangle-shaped tea and seasoning bags instead of rectangular sachets, see the SW-1022 triangle bag packing machine.

Bag Format

Output Bag Type: 4-Side Seal Sachet

The SW-C6 produces a single bag format: the 4-side seal sachet — all four edges of each sachet are heat-sealed. Two film rolls (upper and lower) feed together into the machine, longitudinal sealing bars close the vertical seams between lanes, and horizontal sealing jaws close the top and bottom of each sachet in every cycle. This format is the premium choice for oxygen-sensitive products, retail display-ready packs, and any application needing full-panel printed graphics without a back-seam interruption.

4-Side Seal Sachet (Standard Output)

Compatible film: OPP/CPP · PET/PE · NYLON/PE · aluminum foil laminate · plain PE. The machine runs rollstock film only from two master rolls — no pre-formed sachet supply needed. Upper and lower films can be the same structure or mixed (e.g., clear film on one side for product visibility, foil on the other for barrier). Send your film sample for sealing temperature and dwell time confirmation before production.

Note: This machine produces 4-side seal sachets only. For 3-side seal sachets at the same six-lane throughput, see the SW-A6 six-column three-side-seal machine. For back seal stick sachets, see the SW-B10 ten-column back seal machine. For stand-up or zipper pouches, see the SW-Y200 premade bag liquid machine.

Machine Operation

How the Six-Lane 4-Side Seal Cycle Works

Each cycle on the SW-C6 produces six fully enclosed sachets simultaneously. The four-stage cycle — dual film feed, vertical sealing, dosing, horizontal end seal — runs continuously at 200–300 cycles per minute. Operators interact with the machine through one touch screen HMI; all six lanes are controlled together.

01

Dual Film Feed

Two master film rolls feed into the machine — an upper film and a lower film. Each passes over an independent tension-control rack. The two films come together above the dosing stations, aligned face-to-face, ready to be sealed along the vertical seams that separate the six lanes. Servo-driven film pull maintains consistent tension on both films so lane width stays uniform throughout a production run.

02

Vertical Side Sealing

Seven heated vertical seal bars press the upper and lower films together along seven parallel seams, creating six sachet channels with two side seals each. Temperature controllers maintain a stable set point per bar so seal strength is consistent across all six lanes. This is the first two of the four seals — the left and right side seals of each sachet.

03

Dosing & Fill

The selected dosing system — piston pump for liquid, auger screw for powder, volumetric cup for granule — delivers the target fill volume to all six lanes simultaneously through six fill nozzles. Fill accuracy is typically within ±1% for free-flowing products. Fill volume is adjustable from the HMI panel; the same machine can run different fill weights for different SKUs by recipe recall.

04

Horizontal End Seal & Cut-Off

Horizontal heated jaws close across all six lanes, forming the top and bottom end seals simultaneously — completing the third and fourth seals of each sachet. A knife built into the jaw set cuts between each sachet row to separate the finished sachets from the continuous web. Each cycle produces six fully enclosed 4-side seal sachets, dropped onto the outfeed conveyor for downstream collection, date coding, or cartoning.

Machine Detail

Five Design Features That Drive 4-Side Seal Reliability

A six-lane 4-side seal machine has one extra mechanical axis compared to a 3-side seal machine — the dual film feed. The SW-C6's design addresses the five mechanical areas that determine lane-to-lane consistency, seal integrity, and long-term uptime on high-volume portion-pack production.

① Dual Film Rack with Independent Tension

Two film racks — one for the upper film, one for the lower film — with independent tension control on each. Both films need to arrive at the sealing zone with matched tension; otherwise the 4-side seal geometry drifts and lane widths become uneven. Each rack includes a dancer arm and photocell registration.

② Configurable Filling System

Piston pump, auger screw, or volumetric cup — the dosing module is specified at time of order to match your product. All three options meter simultaneously into six lanes from one central reservoir through six fill nozzles positioned between the vertical seal bars. Changeover to a different product within the same dosing family is recipe-driven from the HMI.

③ Seven-Bar Vertical Seal Assembly

Seven parallel heated vertical seal bars create six sachet channels in one stroke. Each bar has its own controller and thermocouple. Side seal bars, end seal jaws, and the film-pull area can be tuned independently — critical when switching between OPP/CPP, PET/PE, and aluminum foil laminate, each of which has a different optimal sealing window.

④ Touch Screen HMI & PLC Control

One HMI controls all six lanes — cycle speed, sealing temperature, fill volume, bag length, and fault codes are on a single screen. Product recipes are saved so operators can switch between SKUs without manually re-entering parameters. Language and unit settings are configured at time of order.

⑤ Horizontal End Seal Jaws with Integrated Knife

End seal jaws extend across all six lanes and close simultaneously, forming the top and bottom seals of each sachet in one stroke. A knife built into the jaw set separates each row of six sachets from the continuous web. Jaw pressure, dwell time, and temperature are adjustable per recipe to match film gauge and structure.

Touch screen HMI on SW-C6 six column four side seal vertical packing machine control panel

Touch Screen HMI

One central interface controls all six lanes. Stores product recipes for rapid SKU changeover and displays real-time cycle speed, temperature, fill volume, and fault diagnostics for both film feeds and all four sealing zones.

Temperature controller bank on SW-C6 for seven-bar vertical seal and horizontal end-seal heat adjustment per zone

Temperature Controller Bank

Dedicated controller per sealing zone — seven vertical seal bars plus horizontal end-seal jaws — allows precise heat tuning for OPP/CPP, PET/PE, or foil laminate film. Mixed upper and lower film structures are supported.

Dual film rack with independent tension control on SW-C6 for stable upper and lower film feed

Dual Film Rack & Tension Control

Two independent film racks — one for upper film, one for lower film — each with dancer arm and photocell registration. Matched tension is essential for even lane widths on a 4-side seal machine, which is the variable that most affects seal geometry.

Decision Guide

Is a 4-Side Seal Six-Lane Machine Right for Your Product?

The SW-C6 is a specialized high-throughput platform for 4-side seal portion sachets. The 4-side seal format costs slightly more in film per sachet than a 3-side seal — the extra seal adds film overhead — but delivers better barrier integrity, uniform retail appearance, and full-panel printable graphics. Below is a decision framework to confirm fit.

Choose the SW-C6 When:

  • Your product is oxygen-sensitive or light-sensitive — instant coffee, pharmaceutical powder, vitamin powder, premium condiments — and needs the fully enclosed 4-side seal for barrier performance
  • Retail display uniformity matters — hotel amenity, airline catering, or premium retail channels prefer the rectangular full-seal look over a back-seal strip
  • Printed graphics need the full front and back panels without interruption from a rear seam
  • You want to mix upper and lower film structures — for example, clear film on one side for product visibility, foil laminate on the other for barrier
  • Daily output is high — 300,000+ sachets per shift at 5–30 ml fill per sachet
  • Bag format is stable across SKUs — sachet dimensions do not change frequently

Choose a Different Machine When:

When This Machine Is Not the Right Fit

The SW-C6 is not suitable for highly viscous pastes, sticky or stringy materials, irregular large granules, or products that bridge in a feeder hopper. Multi-lane dosing depends on even product distribution from a central reservoir — if the product does not flow consistently, one or more lanes will under- or over-fill. For sticky or viscous products in larger portions, consider the SW-Y200 premade bag liquid machine (pre-formed stand-up pouches with dedicated pump). For irregular granules needing multi-head weigher accuracy, use the SW-420A multi-head weigher machine. For vacuum packaging or barrier-sensitive products that need air evacuation, use the SW-130ZK/160ZK vacuum packing machine. For spouted-pouch pharmaceutical liquid in larger single-serve volumes, use the SW-CCS6 spout pouch filling and capping machine.

Client Feedback

What Our Clients Say

We chose the SW-C6 over a 3-side seal machine because our pharmaceutical powder sachets need the fully enclosed 4-side seal for moisture protection — our regulatory filing requires it. The dual film feed gives us the option to run aluminum foil on the barrier side and printed PET on the customer-facing side. Seal integrity is consistent across all six lanes; we do periodic burst-pressure tests and failures are rare. The touch screen HMI is easy for operators trained on our other ShengWei line.

Hassan A.

Packaging Operations Manager — Pharmaceutical Contract Packer, Saudi Arabia

The SW-C6 replaced our older 3-side seal machine when a major hotel chain required rectangular 4-side seal sachets for uniform display on their breakfast amenity trays. The footprint is similar and the productivity is about the same — we give up a little film cost to get the retail-ready appearance our customer specified. ShengWei's engineers helped us set up the dual film tension on install; once that was dialed in, the machine has been stable for over six months of daily production.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between 4-side seal and 3-side seal?

A 3-side seal sachet has two vertical side seals plus one horizontal end seal — the fourth "side" is a folded edge of the film, not a seal. A 4-side seal sachet has all four edges heat-sealed; there is no folded edge. The 4-side seal format uses slightly more film per sachet (the extra seal adds film overhead), but offers better barrier integrity for oxygen-sensitive products, a uniform rectangular appearance for retail display, and full front and back panels for printed graphics without a rear seam. The SW-C6 makes 4-side seal sachets; the SW-A6 is its 3-side seal sibling.

What products can the SW-C6 pack?

The SW-C6 packs free-flowing liquids, powders, and granules in small portion sachets — 5–30 ml fill volume per sachet — where the 4-side seal format is preferred. Typical applications include honey, plum sauce, salad dressing, ketchup, jam, mustard, soy sauce, instant coffee, non-dairy creamer, sugar, salt, seasoning powder, pharmaceutical powder and liquid portion packs, and premium daily care samples. The dosing system (piston pump, auger screw, or volumetric cup) is selected by product type at time of order. The machine is not suitable for highly viscous pastes, sticky materials, or irregular large granules that cannot flow evenly through a six-lane manifold.

Why does the SW-C6 use two film rolls?

A 4-side seal machine needs two film layers — an upper film and a lower film — which come together and get sealed on all four edges of each sachet. A 3-side seal machine only needs one film, which is folded over itself. The dual film feed gives the SW-C6 two advantages: (1) better seal integrity because all four edges are independently sealed, and (2) the ability to mix film structures — for example, a clear film on the front for product visibility and an aluminum-foil laminate on the back for barrier. The tradeoff is slightly higher film cost per sachet and one extra tension-control axis to align at installation.

How many sachets per minute can the SW-C6 produce?

The SW-C6 runs 200–300 cycles per minute, and each cycle produces six sachets — so the combined output is 1,200–1,800 finished sachets per minute. In an 8-hour production shift at steady state, expected output is around 720,000 sachets. Actual throughput depends on product viscosity (thicker liquids slow the fill cycle), bag length (longer bags use more film per cycle), and film type (thicker films need longer seal dwell time). For a realistic output estimate, send us your product specification and target sachet dimensions.

Which filling system do I need — piston pump, auger, or volumetric cup?

Filling system is chosen by product type. Piston pump is correct for free-flowing liquids and semi-viscous sauces: honey, plum sauce, ketchup, jam, hot sauce, salad dressing. Auger screw is correct for dry powders and fine-grain products: instant coffee, sugar, creamer, MSG, seasoning powder, pharmaceutical powder. Volumetric cup is correct for free-flowing granules with uniform particle size: salt, sugar crystals, seasoning granules. The module is installed at time of order; changing between dosing families later requires a factory upgrade. Send us a sample of your product so we can recommend the right configuration.

What film materials are compatible — and can I mix upper and lower film?

Compatible film structures include OPP/CPP (most common for food-grade sachets), PET/PE (higher heat resistance), NYLON/PE (oxygen barrier for coffee and condiments), aluminum foil laminate (for light- or oxygen-sensitive products), and plain PE. Yes — upper and lower film can be different structures. Common combinations include clear PET/PE on the front for product visibility with aluminum foil laminate on the back for barrier protection, or printed PET on the customer-facing side with plain PE on the reverse. Sealing temperature and dwell time are tuned independently for each film. We recommend sending samples of both films for a sealing parameter test before production.

How accurate is the fill across all six lanes?

For free-flowing liquids and powders with consistent density, lane-to-lane fill variance is typically within ±1–2%. Accuracy depends on product uniformity (suspension solids, foaming, air entrapment all affect pump accuracy), dosing system selection, and how stably the product reservoir is fed. Highly viscous or non-Newtonian products will show more lane variance. For tighter accuracy requirements, a checkweigher can be added downstream — quoted as an add-on at time of order.

Can voltage and HMI language be customized?

Yes. Standard voltage is 380V three-phase 50/60 Hz, which suits most industrial installations. Other voltage configurations are available on request with an upstream transformer. The touch screen HMI supports English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Portuguese, French, and other languages on request — specify at time of order. Both voltage and language should be confirmed before we begin production. Language changes after shipment are possible via remote firmware update in most cases.

What warranty and after-sales support is included?

Two-year warranty on manufacturing defects under normal operation and maintenance. Wear parts (sealing strips, heating elements, cutting knives, pump seals) are excluded from warranty. Spare parts ship from our Guangdong factory within 3 working days. Remote video technical support via WhatsApp or video call is free for the lifetime of the machine — not limited to the warranty period. On-site installation and operator training are available on request; travel costs quoted separately. 4-side seal machines benefit from on-site commissioning more than single-lane machines because dual-film tension balancing and seven-bar vertical alignment are easier with an engineer present.

What is the lead time and payment terms?

Standard lead time is 30–45 working days after deposit confirmation, longer than a single-lane machine because six-lane dosing manifolds, seven vertical seal bars, and dual film racks are produced to your exact specification. Payment: 30% deposit on order, 70% balance before shipment (T/T). Custom configurations — non-standard voltage, special HMI language, factory-installed add-ons such as metal detector or nitrogen flush — may add 5–10 working days. Contact us with your requirements for a confirmed production schedule.

Can I send a product sample for a packing test?

Yes — and we strongly recommend this for multi-lane 4-side seal machines. Ship a sample of your product (500 ml liquid or 500 g powder/granule minimum) and samples of both your upper and lower rollstock films (or a film specification sheet with each structure) to our Shantou factory. We will run a packing test on a demo SW-C6, record a video of six-lane running behavior, and share results with recommended sealing parameters, fill volume settings, and estimated production speed for your specific product. This is the most reliable way to confirm machine suitability before committing to an order. Contact us for shipping instructions.
