Which Collar Type Machine Fits Your Product?

All five models share the same Siemens-controlled VFFS platform — same forming collar, same sealing jaws, same chassis. The only difference is the dosing system above the collar. Choose by what you are filling and how accurate the dose needs to be.

Weight-Based Dosing — Accuracy First

Load-cell weigher systems for irregular granules or compact sachets where the target fill weight must be held to ±1% accuracy. Slower than volumetric dosing but dimensionally precise.

Volumetric & Fluid Dosing — Speed & Cost First

Auger screw, turntable cup, and pump dosing for free-flowing powder, uniform granules, or liquid. Faster and simpler than weigher-based systems; accuracy depends on product density.

Select By Pouch Type

All five collar type machines form bags from rollstock film in-line. Bag format is determined by the forming collar geometry — swap collars to switch formats on the same chassis. Film material (OPP/CPP, PET/PE, PA/PE laminate, kraft paper, aluminum foil laminate) does not affect compatibility.

Machine Operation

How a Collar Type VFFS Machine Works

All five machines share the same four-step forming-filling-sealing cycle. The only variable is how product enters the forming tube.

Step 1 — roll film loading

01

Roll Film Loading

A roll of packaging film (PE, OPP, aluminum foil laminate, or CPP) mounts on the film frame. A servo motor pulls the film through dancer rollers that maintain constant tension. An Omron rotary encoder tracks film position for consistent bag length.

Step 2 — bag forming and vertical sealing

02

Bag Forming & Vertical Sealing

The flat film wraps around a triangular forming collar, which folds it into a continuous tube. Heated vertical sealing rollers create the back seam. Changing bag width requires only swapping the collar — a 15-minute tool-free adjustment.

Step 3 — product dosing and filling

03

Product Dosing & Filling

The dosing system above the collar measures and releases product into the forming tube. The method depends on your product: combination weigher for irregular granules, auger for powder, pump for liquid, linear weigher for small doses, or volumetric cups for uniform granules.

Step 4 — horizontal sealing, coding, and cutting

04

Sealing, Coding & Cutting

Horizontal jaws clamp across the tube to seal the top of one bag and bottom of the next simultaneously. A date printer codes batch number and expiry. A knife severs the finished bag onto the output conveyor. Temperature and pressure are adjustable per film type via the Siemens HMI.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Collar type machine vs. premade bag machine — what is the difference?

A collar type machine is a vertical form-fill-seal (VFFS) system — it forms every bag from a roll of film in-line, which keeps per-bag material cost low at high volume. A premade bag machine fills and seals bags that are already manufactured by a pouch supplier. Premade bag machines support premium formats (doypack, zipper, flat-bottom, gusset) with superior shelf appearance. Collar type machines are better suited for high-speed, high-volume production of simpler bag formats like 3-side seal sachets and back-seal pillow bags.

Which dosing system should I choose?

Choose by product type: SW-420A/620A/820A (10-head combination weigher) for irregular granules like chips, nuts, candy, and pet food; SW-420E/620E (auger screw) for fine powder like flour, spice, and milk powder; SW-420F (metering or piston pump) for liquid and paste; SW-320C (4-head linear weigher) for small-dose granule sachets under 100 g; SW-320D/420D (turntable volumetric cup) for uniform free-flowing granules like sugar, salt, rice, and beans.

What bag formats can a collar type machine produce?

Standard output is a 3-side seal sachet (pillow bag with back seam). With optional tooling, collar type machines can also produce connected strip packs, 4-side seal pouches, and gusseted bags. Bag width ranges from 45 mm (SW-320C/320D) to 400 mm (SW-820A). Bag length is adjustable via the Siemens HMI. Compatible film materials include PE, OPP, CPP, aluminum foil laminate, kraft paper laminate, and nylon laminate.

What is the output speed and filling accuracy?

Speed varies by model: the SW-320D measure cup machine reaches 100 bags/min for small sachets; weigher-based models (SW-420A, SW-320C) run 15–70 bags/min depending on fill weight. Filling accuracy: ±1 g for fills ≤100 g and ±1% for fills above 100 g on weigher models. Volumetric cup accuracy depends on product bulk density — typically ±2–3% for uniform granules like sugar and rice.

How long does a bag size changeover take?

Bag width change: 15–30 minutes (swap the forming collar). Bag length change: under 5 minutes (adjust on the HMI). Fill weight change: under 5 minutes (adjust target weight or swap measure cups). The Siemens PLC stores up to 100 product recipes — switching between saved configurations takes seconds.

What are the lead time, payment, and shipping terms?

Lead time: 25–35 working days after deposit. Payment: 30% deposit, 70% balance before shipment (T/T). Shipping: sea freight FOB Shantou, fumigation-free plywood crate. We run a factory acceptance test (FAT) with your sample product and film before shipping — video and test data provided.

Do you provide installation and training?

Remote video installation support is included. On-site installation by a ShengWei engineer is available at additional cost. The machine ships with an English-language operator manual, electrical diagram, and spare parts kit. 24-hour WhatsApp technical support is included for the lifetime of the machine.
