SW-1528: Vertical FFS for Four-Side Sealed Sachets
The SW-1528 is a compact vertical form-fill-seal machine purpose-built for the four-side seal sachet — a flat pouch sealed along all four edges, suited to single-dose portion packs for condiments, sauces, powder supplements, and pharmaceutical products. Film unwinds from a rear-mounted roll, wraps around a forming shoulder, and is heat-sealed on two longitudinal edges and two cross edges to produce small, flat sachets that stack efficiently in shipping cartons and dispense cleanly on retail display strips.
Two configurations share the same mechanical platform. The liquid configuration uses a piston pump (or optional pneumatic diaphragm pump for viscous or particulate-bearing liquids) with a 30 L 304 stainless steel hopper — ideal for tomato ketchup, honey, shampoo, edible oil, chili paste, salad dressing, and similar liquid or paste products. The powder configuration replaces the liquid filling system with an inclined auger screw for dry powders — milk powder, coffee, MSG, chicken essence, salt, pharmaceutical powder, and spice blends. A dual-film-rack variant holds two rollstock films simultaneously, allowing continuous production through film changeover and eliminating stop-start losses on long runs.
Standard equipment includes a Schneider frequency converter with HMI rotary speed control, photocell-tracked servo film pull for precise registration with printed films, dual independent temperature controllers for longitudinal and cross seal jaws, a 4-line date printer, a double film clamp plate for stable film travel, easy-tear notch cutting, linked-bag output, and a glass safety enclosure. Film compatibility covers OPP/CPP, PET/PE, NYLON/PE, and plain PE rollstock up to 280 mm wide. For machines that produce three-side-seal sachets on a similar footprint, see the SW-1328 three-side sealing vertical packing machine.

Output Bag Type: Four-Side Seal Sachet
The SW-1528 produces flat four-side-seal sachets — pouches heat-sealed along all four edges of a rectangular film panel. This format is the industry standard for single-serve condiment, powder, and liquid portion packs. Four-side sealing offers a tight product-to-film ratio, clean edges for easy-tear opening, and a flat profile that stacks efficiently in shipping cartons and dispenses cleanly from retail display strips.
Suitable materials — ketchup, oil, shampoo, sauce, paste, honey
Finished sachet samples — coffee, condiment, seasoning single-serve
4-Side Seal Sachet (Standard Output)
3-Side Seal Sachet (Alternative Format)
Compatible film: OPP/CPP · PET/PE · NYLON/PE · PE · heat-sealable composite laminates up to 280 mm wide. Send your film sample for sealing parameter confirmation before production.
Note: The SW-1528 produces four-side-seal sachets only. For three-side-seal flat sachets, see the SW-1328 three-side sealing machine. For back-seal stick packs or pillow sachets, see the SW-2030A back-seal granule machine.
How the Four-Side Seal Cycle Works
The forming, filling, and sealing sequence runs continuously with each sachet completed in approximately one second at full speed. A photocell eye reads the print registration mark on the film and adjusts the pull length in real time, ensuring every sachet is cut at the correct position. Both the liquid and powder configurations share the same forming and sealing mechanics — only the filling module changes between the liquid and powder configurations.
01
Film Unwind & Forming
Film unwinds from the rear-mounted roll and passes through the double film clamp plate that stabilises film tension. The dual-film-rack variant loads two rolls simultaneously — when the active roll runs out, the second roll is pre-threaded for quick splice, eliminating the 30–45 minute stop normally required to load fresh film. The forming shoulder wraps the film into a flat tube around the filling spout.
02
Longitudinal Sealing
Heated longitudinal seal bars close along the two long edges of the film tube, forming the side seams of each sachet. The longitudinal seal temperature is controlled independently of the cross seal — this is important when running composite films (such as PET/PE laminates) that require different temperatures on the side seams versus the end seals. Seal jaws are designed for four-side sealing geometry.
03
Metered Filling
Product drops into the formed tube through the central filling spout. The liquid configuration uses a piston pump (or optional pneumatic diaphragm pump for viscous liquids with small particles, such as chili paste) that meters a precise volume per stroke. The powder configuration uses an inclined auger screw whose rotation count controls the powder dose — suitable for dry, free-flowing powder such as milk powder, coffee, MSG, and salt. Mixing and heating options are available on the liquid hopper for products that separate or solidify at room temperature.
04
Cross Sealing, Cutting & Discharge
Heated cross seal jaws close across the filled tube, simultaneously forming the rear seal of the current sachet and the front seal of the next one. A blade built into the cross seal jaw cuts between sachets to separate them, and an easy-tear notch is stamped into the edge for clean opening by the end user. The 4-line date printer codes production date, batch number, or expiry information onto each sachet. Finished sachets discharge as individual units or as a linked-bag chain for downstream counting and cartoning.

Four Core Systems That Drive Sachet Quality
The SW-1528 platform is built around four mechanical systems that determine seal integrity, dosing accuracy, and film handling reliability. Understanding these systems helps you specify the correct configuration for your product and identify which options (mixing hopper, pneumatic pump, dual-film rack) are needed before quotation. For higher-volume powder applications with wider bags, see the SW-420E collar type auger powder machine.
① Schneider Frequency Drive & Speed Control
A Schneider-brand frequency converter regulates the main motor with a HMI rotary knob for continuous speed adjustment. Smooth acceleration and deceleration protect film integrity at speed changes between SKUs — important when switching from a slow viscous paste to a fast-flowing powder on the same machine. The frequency drive also enables low-speed jog mode for film threading and maintenance.
② Dual-Zone Temperature Control
Two independent PID temperature controllers regulate the longitudinal seal bars and cross seal jaws separately. Four-side sealing requires different temperatures on side seams versus end seals — especially on PET/PE or NYLON/PE laminate films where thermal conductivity varies by seal geometry. Each zone holds set-point within ±1 °C, ensuring consistent seal quality across production runs.
③ Double Film Clamp Plate
The double film clamp plate stabilises film as it passes from the roll to the forming shoulder. This mechanism eliminates film walk, reduces wrinkling on the longitudinal seals, and simplifies film threading after a roll change. On the dual-film-rack variant, the clamp plate accommodates two parallel film paths for continuous production. Film tension is adjustable via spring-loaded dancer arms.
④ Modular Filling Head
The filling head is the only difference between the liquid and powder configurations. The liquid piston pump mounts above the forming spout on a quick-release bracket — replaceable with a pneumatic diaphragm pump for viscous or particulate-bearing liquids, or with the inclined auger screw for dry powder. Changing the filling head takes approximately 45 minutes and does not require modification of the base machine frame, control system, or sealing unit.
Branded Components You Can Verify
Every critical component on the SW-1528 is sourced from established industrial brands. Part numbers are listed on the quotation sheet so you can verify pricing and availability independently before you order.
PLC Touch Screen Panel
Colour HMI touch screen mounted on the right side of the machine for easy operator access. Displays packing speed, bag length, longitudinal and cross seal temperature, production count, and fault codes. Seven languages standard.
Dual PID Temperature Controller
Two independent temperature loops — one for longitudinal (side) seals and one for cross (end) seals. Each holds set-point within ±1 °C for consistent seal quality on laminate films that require different side and end seal temperatures.
Inclined Auger Screw Filler
SUS304 stainless steel hopper with servo-driven inclined auger. Rotation count determines the dose — precise volumetric filling for dry, free-flowing powder such as coffee, milk powder, MSG, salt, chicken essence, and pharmaceutical powder.
Schneider Frequency Drive
Schneider-brand frequency converter with rotary speed knob on the HMI panel. Controls main motor acceleration, deceleration, and jog speed — protects film integrity during speed changes between SKUs.
4-Line Date Printer
Built-in 4-line coding mechanism prints production date, batch number, expiry, and lot code directly onto each sachet during the sealing cycle. Characters are embossed on the film for permanent, tamper-evident marking.
Double Film Clamp Plate
Dual-plate clamp assembly stabilises film tension as it passes from the roll to the forming shoulder. Eliminates film walk, reduces wrinkling on longitudinal seals, and simplifies film threading after a roll change.
Four-Side Seal vs Three-Side Seal — Which Sachet Format Do You Need?
Both formats start from rollstock film and produce flat sachets on a vertical FFS machine. The key difference is sealing geometry: four-side seal closes all four edges, three-side seal uses the folded film edge as one side. Choose based on your film cost sensitivity, seal appearance, and packaging strength requirements.
Choose Four-Side Seal (SW-1528) When:
- You need a symmetrical sachet with clean edges on all four sides for premium retail presentation
- Your product is powder, liquid, or paste (both filling configurations available)
- You need an easy-tear notch on any edge for consumer-friendly opening
- Your film has printed graphics designed around a four-panel layout
- You run moderate-volume single-dose portion packs (40–100 bags/min)
- You need dual-film-rack capability for continuous production on long runs
Choose Three-Side Seal (SW-1328) When:
- You want slightly lower film cost per sachet — three-side seal uses a folded film edge
- Your product is primarily dry granule or powder
- Your packaging design locates the tear notch at the top of the sachet only
- You prefer a simpler sealing mechanism with fewer temperature zones
When This Machine Is Not the Right Fit
The SW-1528 produces flat four-side-seal sachets only. For back-seal stick packs or pillow sachets, see the SW-2030A back-seal granule machine, SW-2030B back-seal powder machine, or SW-B10 ten-column back-seal stick pack machine. For pyramid-shaped triangle bags, see the SW-1022 triangle bag machine. For high-volume liquid sachets in three-side-seal format, the SW-420F collar type liquid machine offers a wider bag range and faster speeds. For premade stand-up pouches or spouted packs, use the premade bag packing machine family or the spout pouch filling and capping machine (SW-CCS6).
