What’s the difference between 4-side seal and stick pack?
"Stick pack" is a popular sub-format of 4-side seal — specifically the long narrow rectangle (typically 12×2 cm or similar) used for instant coffee, electrolyte sticks, sugar sticks. All stick packs are 4-side seal, but not all 4-side seal sachets are sticks — square sachets (6×8 cm sauce, condiment) are also 4-side seal. ShengWei machines run both shapes — you choose by setting bag width and length on the HMI.
How does 4-side seal differ from 3-side seal in production?
4-side seal uses two separate film webs (front + back) sealed together on all four edges, while 3-side seal uses one film web folded over itself with the fold becoming one of the four edges. 4-side seal gives a flat printable surface on both faces (better for branding) while 3-side seal saves ~15% film cost.
