Unlike continuous-motion stick packers, the reciprocating sealing jaw pauses at the closed position to deliver a consistent seal dwell on composite laminate films - which is important for probiotic, pharmaceutical, and dairy powders that need a hermetic seal to protect shelf life. Typical products include white sugar, instant coffee, bean powder, probiotic powder, milk powder, cocoa mix, creamer, and fine spice granules in 2-30 g fill range.

The machine runs at 40-100 bags per minute depending on fill weight and bag length. Standard bag length is 45-150 mm, bag width is 20-100 mm, and rollstock film width is up to 220 mm. How the Reciprocating Stick-Pack Cycle Works

The forming, filling, and sealing sequence coordinates the auger dose, film pull, reciprocating jaw motion, and cutting in one pneumatic cycle. Because the seal jaw reciprocates rather than rotates, it pauses at the closed position for a controlled dwell time - which is what creates the hermetic seal on laminate films used for shelf-stable powder products.

Auger Dosing

Powder or fine granules flow from the stainless hopper into the auger tube. A servo-driven screw rotates a calibrated count per cycle, delivering a consistent volumetric dose into the formed film tube. Dose volume is adjusted on the touch screen and calibrated to product bulk density during sample testing.

Film Forming & Back Seal

Rollstock film unwinds from the rear holder and wraps around the forming tube. The back-seam sealer closes the film into a continuous tube. Photoelectric tracking reads the registration mark on pre-printed film so each stick cuts in the correct position relative to the artwork.

Reciprocating Cross Seal

Pneumatic cylinders drive the horizontal sealing jaws inward to close across the film tube. Unlike rotary sealers, the reciprocating jaw pauses at the closed position for a set dwell time - typically 0.2-0.6 seconds depending on film laminate - then opens for the next film advance. Dwell, pressure, and temperature are independently tunable.

Multi-Shape Cutting & Discharge

A cutter built into the cross seal jaw separates the finished stick. Cutter shape is a selectable mechanical option: zigzag for decorative retail appearance, flat cutter for clean utilitarian sticks, rounded for easy-tear opening, or custom on request. Finished sticks discharge individually onto a downstream conveyor, counting table, or directly into cartoning.

5. Pneumatic Intelligent Sealing
