SW-1328: Three-Side Seal Sachets with Measuring Cup Precision

The SW-1328 is a single-lane vertical form-fill-seal machine built around a rotating measuring cup disc. Four volumetric cups (standard) — or five for higher throughput — swing around a fixed cup ring that feeds each pre-measured dose into the forming tube below. The three-side seal mold closes the longitudinal seam and both end seals in a single stroke, producing flat, retail-ready sachets 25–140 mm wide and 50–200 mm long at 50–70 bags per minute. Typical fill weights range from 10 g to 200 g; larger doses require custom cup sets.

The SW-1328 suits low-viscosity free-flowing materials — nuts, cashews, chips, melon seeds, sugar, salt, dry beans, seasoning granules, coffee beans, and similar products that can gravity-feed into cups without bridging. For fine powders that require auger metering, use the SW-2030B auger powder machine. For small candy, seeds, or oscillating-dose products in the 5–500 g range, see the SW-2030D pendulum machine. Control is handled by a Siemens touch-screen HMI with a multi-language interface (Chinese, English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Korean, French; other languages on request via PLC customization). A Schneider ATV12 frequency converter regulates main motor speed for smooth start-up and SKU transitions, and an intelligent photocell tracking system registers each bag to the print mark on the film. Optional add-ons include a ribbon coding printer for production and expiry dates (2 lines, ~14 characters per line), and a finished-product conveyor to feed downstream cartoners or operators.

Output Bag Type: Three-Side Seal Sachet

The SW-1328 produces one primary bag format — the three-side seal sachet. Film folds to form the longitudinal seam at one edge; the top and bottom end seals close the remaining two sides. The result is a flat, lightweight pouch ideal for retail display, vending distribution, and low-cost portion packs. Top-seal areas of 25 mm or more can be punched with Euro holes or round hang holes for display racks.

Machine Operation

How the Measuring-Cup VFFS Cycle Works

From film unwind to finished sachet the cycle runs under one second at full speed. The cup disc rotates continuously while the film-pull and sealing station operate in precise phase — no stop-and-start motion on the dosing head.

Bulk Feed & Cup Charging

Product is loaded into the stainless-steel hopper above the cup disc. As the disc rotates, each cup passes under the hopper exit and gravity-fills with the same volumetric charge. An adjustable cup ring controls fill level — tightening the ring reduces dose volume, loosening it increases dose volume, without changing cups. A vibration setting on the HMI helps stubborn granules settle evenly into the cups.

Film Forming & Longitudinal Seal

Film unwinds from the rear roll, passes through a double film clamp for tension stability, and is pulled over a forming collar that folds it into a vertical tube. The longitudinal seal bar clamps the overlapping edges against the forming tube and applies heat to form the long-side seal. A servo-driven pull assembly registers each bag to the print mark on the film.

Dose Drop & End Sealing

As each cup reaches the dispensing position, its bottom flap opens and the dose drops down the forming tube into the waiting bag. The horizontal end-seal jaws close across the film tube, sealing the top of the current bag and the bottom of the next bag in a single stroke. An integrated knife inside the jaw set separates the finished sachet from the ongoing film tube.

Date Coding & Discharge

An optional ribbon coding printer prints the production date, batch number, and expiry date on each sachet — up to 2 lines of roughly 14 characters per line, with customizable fonts. Finished sachets fall onto a finished-product conveyor that carries them clear of the machine and into a downstream cartoner or hand-pack station. The intelligent photocell tracking system halts the cycle if the print mark is missed or the film drifts.

④ Roll Film Structure & Double Film Clamp

The rear film roll sits on a dedicated unwind shaft behind the machine. A double film clamp system holds film tension between the roll and the forming tube, eliminating slack and wrinkles even when the film runs out or the roll diameter changes mid-shift.

⑤ Seal Mold Customization

The three-side seal mold is standard. Top-seal patterns can be customized — serrated, smooth, or embossed with a brand mark — and Euro or round hang holes can be punched on top seals of 25 mm or more for retail display racks.

Measuring Cup vs Auger vs Multi-Head Weigher — Which Dosing Method Do You Need?

Three different vertical packing machines can all fill a three-side seal sachet, but they use different dosing technologies. The right choice depends on your material's flow behaviour, fill-weight tolerance, and production volume.

Choose the SW-1328 Measuring Cup Machine When:

  • Your product is free-flowing and uniform in particle size — nuts, chips, melon seeds, sugar, salt, beans
  • Fill weight is between 10 g and 200 g and tolerance of ±1–2 g is acceptable
  • You want the lowest capital cost for a dedicated three-side seal line
  • You produce 50–70 sachets per minute and need a compact 300 kg footprint
  • You need HMI in Chinese, English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Korean, or French

Choose the SW-2030B Auger Powder Machine or the SW-420A Multi-Head Weigher When:

  • Your material is fine powder that bridges or arches in cups — auger metering is needed
  • Your granules are irregular (pretzel pieces, dried fruit) and need combination weighing for ±0.3 g accuracy

The SW-1328 is designed for low-viscosity free-flowing materials that gravity-feed cleanly into the measuring cups. Typical products include nuts (peanuts, cashews, almonds), chips, melon seeds, sugar, salt, seasoning granules, dry beans, coffee beans, and similar dry granules in the 10–200 g fill range. The product must have uniform particle size and must not bridge, arch, or stick inside the cups. For fine powder that needs auger metering, choose the SW-2030B instead. For irregular pieces that need combination weighing, choose the SW-420A multi-head weigher machine.

What bag types does this machine produce?

The SW-1328 produces three-side seal sachets only — one longitudinal seal along one edge, plus top and bottom end seals. Bag width is 25–140 mm and length is 50–200 mm; maximum film roll width is 300 mm. Top seals of 25 mm or more can be punched with Euro hang holes or round hang holes for retail display racks. The machine does not produce four-side seal, back-seal, stand-up, or zipper bags; for those formats a different ShengWei vertical machine is the correct choice.

For larger or smaller fill weights, custom cup sets can be machined; send us your product sample and target fill weight for confirmation. All cup changes take place without disassembling the machine — only the cup ring and cup inserts are swapped.

What film materials are compatible?

The SW-1328 is compatible with OPP/CPP (most common), OPP/PE, PET/PE (higher heat resistance), PA/PE (higher barrier), and aluminum-foil laminate. Sealing temperature, dwell time, and jaw pressure are all adjustable via the HMI panel, so the machine can be tuned for different film thicknesses and compositions. Maximum film roll width is 300 mm. We recommend sending a rollstock film sample before production so we can confirm the optimal sealing parameters and cup-ring clearance for your specific material.

Can the SW-1328 print date codes on sachets?

Yes, an optional factory-fitted ribbon coding printer prints the production date, batch number, and expiry date directly on the sealed top of each sachet — typically 2 lines of approximately 14 characters per line, with customizable fonts. The printer is triggered by the sealing cycle so print position is consistent on every bag. If you do not need date coding at purchase, the printer can be retrofitted later. For high-resolution graphics or variable text, an external inkjet coder can be integrated on the outfeed conveyor as an alternative.

What is the packing speed and what affects throughput?

The SW-1328 runs at 50–70 bags per minute in standard configuration. With a 5-cup upgrade and stable free-flowing material, throughput can reach 70–80 bags per minute. Actual speed depends on the material type, particle size, fill weight, and bag length — longer bags require more film pull per cycle, which reduces maximum bags-per-minute. Sticky or dusty materials require vibration settings that slightly reduce output. Contact us with your product sample and target output for a realistic throughput estimate.

What languages does the touch-screen HMI support?

The standard Siemens touch-screen HMI supports Chinese, English, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, Korean, and French out of the box — selectable from the System Setting menu on the machine. Additional languages (Portuguese, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese, and others) can be added via PLC customization on request; specify the target language at the time of order. The HMI also supports right-to-left layouts for Arabic so operator workflows mirror correctly.

What warranty and after-sales support is included?

1-year warranty covering manufacturing defects under normal operation and maintenance. Consumable wear parts (sealing strips, heating elements, cutting blades, ribbon rolls) are excluded from warranty. Spare parts ship from our Guangdong factory within 3 working days of request. Free remote video technical support via WhatsApp or video call is available for the lifetime of the machine — not limited to the warranty period. On-site installation and operator training are available on request, with travel costs quoted separately.

What is the lead time and payment terms?

Standard lead time is 20–30 working days after deposit confirmation for a base configuration. Payment: 30% deposit on order, 70% balance before shipment (T/T). Custom cup sets, non-standard voltage (380V), special HMI language, factory-installed date coder, or other add-ons may add 5–10 working days. We issue a proforma invoice with the confirmed production schedule once the configuration is frozen. Can I send a product sample for a packing test?

Yes. Ship a sample of your product and your rollstock film (or a sample bag with the same film specification) to our Shantou factory. We will run a packing test on an SW-1328 with the cup size and film we recommend, record a video of the running machine, and share it along with the recommended sealing parameters, cup-ring adjustment, and machine settings.
